Bridging the education gap: the role of private organizations in rural China

Abstract

Inequality in education is a significant challenge in China. Through a case study, this research examines the impact of private organizations on rural students' academic performance. The study compares student performance before and after the private educational programs intervention and analyzes the differences between these students and a control group of students with comparable socioeconomic backgrounds. The findings suggest that private organizations play a crucial role in enhancing educational quality in rural regions, particularly by improving teacher training, providing supplementary educational resources, and supporting student engagement, which have a potential to narrow the rural-urban education gap.
